LEAD Brevard recognized four Brevard County young professionals and a local high school senior for their leadership and community service at its fourth annual 4 Under 40 – Celebrating the Next Generation of Leaders gala on February 15, at the Melbourne Hilton Rialto Hotel.

Selected from a field of twelve finalists, this year’s recipients were: Eric Eavenson, President of Strategic Insurance Management, LLC; Jermaine Curry, Program Specialist with Cuyler Community Learning Center; Shannon Meyer, President and CEO of the Melbourne-Palm Bay Area Chamber of Commerce; and Travis Proctor, President of Artemis International Technologies, Inc. The student recognition was presented to Taylor Williams of Holy Trinity High School, in Melbourne.

From over 40 nominations, finalists were chosen by a group of independent community leaders including Roger Dobson, President, Ocean Partners; Pam Gatto, President, Gatto Tires and Auto; Howard Lance, President and CEO, Harris Corp.; Al Neuharth, Founder of USA Today and FLRODIA TODAY newspapers; and Dr. Joe Lee Smith, Provost, Brevard Community College – Palm Bay Campus. Judges individually made their selections based on the information provided within the nominees’ questionnaires, without knowledge of the person whose name was attached to the submission.

Those in attendance were treated to a news-style video produced by Central Florida News 13, highlighting the finalists and featuring past award winners. The evening’s host was Central Florida News 13 anchor Scott Harris.

Presenting sponsors of the event included FLORIDA TODAY, Harris Corporation, Parrish Medical Center, and a consortium of higher education institutions, including Brevard Community College, Florida Institute of Technology and the University of Central Florida. Event sponsors included Brevard Workforce Development Board, Inc. and Brevard Job-Link, as well as United Space Alliance.
